The holiday period is often a time when our clients are most in need.
Here are a few ways you can support Family Centre’s client families in need during the holidays:
Adopt a Family Programme
Families in significant financial need who are either active participants in our Counselling services or in our Community Outreach programmes (Youth Leadership Academy, Beyond Rugby Bermuda and Beyond Yoga Bermuda) are flagged for support during the holiday season. Their family needs as well as their children’s holiday wishes are identified and shared with an individual, family, or company donor. Donors who adopt a family will often provide a combination of the following: Vouchers for different stores (MarketPlace, Gibbons, Boyle’s, Brown and Co, Phoenix, etc.), Food hampers with everyday non-perishable food items, toys, clothing, a voucher for a Christmas meal and/or a Christmas tree with decorations. The donor completely decides the make-up of the family they wish to adopt and how they would like to give.
Purchase of Grocery, BELCO and/or Gibbons Company Vouchers to support families all year round
The types of vouchers listed above are always welcome to place in our stock for the year as well as to give out to families in need during the holiday season. Staff who are aware of a client family’s financial needs follow the proper protocols for assessing how Family Centre can help, and apply for vouchers to help support a family through a crisis situation at any time of the year.

Sometimes the hampers are supplemented with a grocery voucher for the purchase of perishable items that cannot be placed in the hampers.
Other:
Some donors have supported families in need through the purchase of specific items, such as Christmas meals from Wilks Catering, MarketPlace and/or purchase of a Christmas tree, lights, and ornaments.
